Accessibility at Commencement
The University of Utah strives to create a welcoming environment for all who attend the University Commencement ceremony. Please review the information below for building accessibility and accommodation for people who experience a disability.
Closed Captioning
The Jon M. Huntsman Center will provide closed captioning for the University Commencement event. The closed captioned text will be displayed on large videoboards in real-time during the ceremony for guests and students to read.
ASL Interpretation
Guests and students who need American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation are welcome to sit at the bottom of Section C in the Jon M. Huntsman Center during the ceremony.
ADA Drop-Off and Pick-Up
For the University Commencement ceremony, individuals who have mobility needs can be dropped off and picked up at the south entrance half circle at the Jon M. Huntsman Center (displayed in the map below) off of South Campus Drive.
ADA Parking

ADA Seating
The Jon M. Huntsman Center has ADA spaces in the arena for those who use a wheelchair. Please know there are limited spaces available and are on a first come, first serve basis. Wheelchair stalls are located on the concourse-level of the arena near each entrance door.
Guest or students who would like to rent a wheelchair for University Commencement can contact the Center for Disability and Access. Wheelchair rentals are free of charge.
Accessibility for Students
Access to the arena floor of the Jon M. Huntsman Center can be difficult for some individuals experiencing mobility limitations. Graduates who need to use an elevator to access the arena floor can meet a staff member from the Center for Disability and Access near Portal 7 in the Jon M. Huntsman Center to use.
